How Pixar almost lost Toy Story 2 to a bad backup
I’ll admit I started perspiring during this story.
my stomach dropped. This feeling is the worst while everything is mostly file based media in TV now.
Yeah, I’ve totally had this happen on video gigs I’ve worked on. This is why, whenever I get a project, I copy ALL THE FILES!!!! on to my computer, even if I’m only using 1% of them. More than once, I’ve had a DOP or producer flip out because some idiot deleted everything, and I get to be Mr. Hero with my OCD-like copying. My professional colleagues have stopped trying to make fun of me about it.
Srs the worst feeling, when ALL THE FILES!!! get wiped. OMFG.
